Its Population

In the 1990s, people flocked to the Temecula Valley from the Orange County and San Diego County because of the city’s affordable housing prices. It also helped that Temecula is widely considered as a wine country. The Promenade Mall started operating in the city in the fall of 1999. In 2005, an annex was created in the form of the planned community of Redhawk, increasing the population to around 90,000 residents. After the significant increase in the population and the development of the home construction industry, the mortgage financial crisis in 1997 and the housing market correction in the country happened. This led to a lot of home foreclosures in the cities of Temecula and Murrieta.

Based on the 2010 United States Census, Temecula was home to 100,097 residents. This meant that the population density was about 3,318.0 people per square mile. The first vineyard in Temecula is more than 40 years old. It all started when Leon Borel and Richard Break started planting 56 varieties of grapes for winemaking in five different locations. It was for the Rancho California Development Corporation. This was when the Temecula Valley was considered a winemaking country. In 1967, the entire 1,000 acres were converted into a commercial vineyard by John Moramarco for Brookside Vineyards and Winery. Now, there are about 40 wineries and vineyards covering over 3,500 acres.

If you want to go to the wine country, you have to go east of the Old Town Temecula. You can find tasting rooms in it.
